Tour exhibit Pompeii: The Immortal City opens at Orlando Science Center (Website) on October 26 featuring 100 artifacts from the ancient Roman city, including pieces of recovered art, statues, and jewelry.

The Science Center was awarded a healthy budget to engage local creatives and organizations to weave them into the exhibition via a series of community-wide events and installations including a 10-foot-tall Mount Vesuvius “volcano” installation that was originally unveiled at last year’s Immerse festival in downtown Orlando but has recently made its way to East End Market in Audubon Park. It will remain at the market until Sunda, October 4, bellowing smoke every 10 minutes.

Snap! Orlando has developed a new augmented reality experience in Loch Haven Park that allows people to use their smartphones to take selfies or shoot a video from within an ancient temple as it is overcome with lava. You can see an example of the augmented reality installation below:

Pompeii will run through January 24, 2021 at the Orlando Science Center. Tickets to the exhibit are free for members or $26 for adults and $18 for youth aged 2-11.
