Instagram for Writers

If you’re a writer and you’re not using Instagram, you’re missing out on reaching a diverse group of readers, and you’re missing out on using a growing social media platform to build a community. In this workshop, Writer’s Atelier founder, Racquel Henry will discuss how she used Instagram to launch Writer’s Atelier in addition to how writers can use it to launch their own careers and build their readership.
In this workshop you will learn:
• why you need to be on IG
• how to create engaging content to attract readers and followers
• how to use and leverage IG Stories (including basic design tool within IG)
• the supplemental apps that can make posting easier
• the anatomy of the perfect bio
• how to create an IG content master plan so you’re not wasting valuable writing time
• how to work with the algorithm
• the best hashtags for writers and readers
Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops, tablets, and cell phones since this is a hands-on workshop. Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions. This workshop will include bonus worksheets.

About Racquel Henry:
Racquel Henry is a Trinidadian writer and editor with an MFA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is also a part-time English Professor and owns the writing center, Writer’s Atelier, in Winter Park, FL. In 2010 Racquel co-founded Black Fox Literary Magazine where she still serves as an editor. On the freelance side, she edits books, academic work, and ghostwrites Romance novels. Racquel has also presented and moderated panels at writing conferences and residencies across the US. Her fiction, poetry, and nonfiction have appeared or is forthcoming in Lotus-Eater Magazine, Reaching Beyond the Saguaros: A Collaborative Prosimetric Travelogue (Serving House Books, 2017), We Can’t Help it if We’re From Florida (Burrow Press, 2017), Thrill of the Hunt Anthology: Welcome to Whitebridge (Palmas Press, 2017), Moko Caribbean Arts & Letters, and The Writer’s Atelier Little Book of Writing Affirmations (Writer’s Atelier Books, 2018), among others.
