More information about the presentation:
Native Plant Communities are shrinking at an alarming rate, and we are living with the highest rates of extinction ever experienced in human history. There are approximately 4,000 native plants in Florida. If we want to preserve the unique plants and wildlife of Florida, we need to conserve 33% of the landmass. This talk will present an overview of the importance of native plants, native plant wildlife connections, and the pollution hazards of non-native planting and maintenance.
Learn about Florida Native ecosystems, how you can help preserve biodiversity in your own backyard, and some landscape design tips.
Karina Veaudry has been a dedicated member of the Florida Native Plant Society for 32 years. Throughout that time, she has held various positions including serving as Executive Director from 2006 to 2012, and currently serves as the President of the Pine Lily Chapter. In her profession as a Landscape Architect, she created CEU programs and developed her own company to be able to plant and promote native plants, a sense of place, and ecological biodiversity on 100% of her projects.
