Movie Trash – From Justin to Kelly

Saturday Steve Davis with the Austin Chronical said it best in 2003, “Moulin Rouge … Chicago … From Justin to Kelly … two steps forward and then about 16 steps back for the film musical.”
Right on the heels of the American Idol explosion of popularity, it only made sense to capitalize on that and make one of the worst summer break beach musical of all time. Bringing on the acclaimed director of such classics as Boys and Girls and Firestarter 2 certainly helped up the cheese factor. But unlike most witless musical comedies with mediocre songs, this one is so bad it is never boring. And we here at Movie Trash at The Nook have only one rule for the movies we show… they cannot be boring.
So come out to The Nook, bring a chair if you have one (we have seating, but it is limited) and get more than a couple beers as we endure this 81 minute assault on all that is good and pure about the Hollywood musical.
As with all Movie Trash at The Nook screenings, it is free and open to the public. However, if you’d like to throw Orlando Pop-Up Movie Services a few bucks in the tip jar, that would be amazing.
