June 1 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pmVarious prices
Sidewalk Labs has grabbed international headlines, putting Toronto on the global technology frontier of city building. The Quayside proposal, however, is just part of a much larger story about a unique approach to revitalizing a massive urban precinct adjacent to the city’s central business district and eastern waterfront. Formally created in 2001, Waterfront Toronto is a tripartite corporation well into a 25-year mandate to transform 800 hectares (2,000 ac) of brownfield lands on the waterfront to provide 40,000 residential units, 1 million square metres (11 million sq ft) of employment space, and 300 hectares (740 ac) of parks and public spaces.
Focusing on design excellence, urban innovation, and climate sustainability and resilience, Waterfront Toronto has leveraged such opportunities as the Athlete’s Village for the Pan Am Games to lay a technologically sophisticated infrastructure foundation that has become an international magnet for talent and investment.
