UPDATE: According to an EDC spokesperson, the merger is not officially official until January 31. Both boards and the membership need to give final approvals and votes in the coming weeks.
Following a decision made by the Economic Development Commission‘s board in July, 2016, the EDC has merged with the Central Florida Partnership, which oversees Orlando Inc., the local chamber of commerce.
The newly joined organization is overseen by new president and CEO, Tim Giuliani. Giuliani’s most recent job was as president and CEO of the Greater Aleigh Chamber of Commerce where he managed an $8M budget. The name of the new EDC/CFP chimera-organization has not yet been released.
