“This is a great day for the Orlando Solar Bears. We couldn’t be more excited to form this partnership with a model franchise like the Tampa Bay Lightning.”

The Orlando Solar Bears just entered a three-year affiliation agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to a recent press release via Lightning’s vice president, Steve Yzerman.

Under the new agreement, the Solar Bears will serve as the Lightning’s primary ECHL affiliate, beginning in the 2018-19 season.

The Lightning will play a pre-season game against the Florida Panthers at the Amway Center on Thursday, September 27, with tickets going on sale HERE on Thursday, August 23. The last time they played in Orlando was in 2013 when they won in a shootout against the St. Louis Blues.

ECHL is the premier AA hockey league in North America.
