Now, the Florida Department of Transportation has announced that they won’t be charging that fee for the first 90 days.
The fee was not mentioned on the SunRail website nor on any marketing material.
Steve Olsen a spokesperson for FDOT told Bungalower that the fee helps to cover the cost of the ticket.
“The paper tickets have a chip in them. The cost covers the expense for this media,” he said.
As we mentioned this fee is only for the paper tickets and not for the SunCard.
“Our goal is also to encourage customers to buy the reloadable media (SunCard), which may be used over and over and pays for itself through discounts, depending on the plan chosen,” he told Bungalower.
