The new Holden Heights Community Center will feature a custom piece of art by glass artist Michele Gutlove (Website).
Gutlove was commissioned to fill the new building’s front atrium with an installation of dozens of custom crafted glass pieces, suspended from the ceiling.
The sculpture will be comprised of dichroic glass that will cast blue, green, and yellow patterns onto the surrounding walls. The word “dichroic” means glass that can cast two different colors of light, depending on lighting conditions.
Gutlove was selected from 80 applications. She has worked with glass for 19 years.
The grand opening of the new Center was Wednesday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m.
