Orlando has been selected as the host city for the 2016 Invictus Games (Website), to take place May 8-12 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The word “invictus” means “unconquered” and according to the Foundation website, is meant as a rallying cry for injured military service personnel who are recovering from injuries sustained while overseas. The Invictus Games are the only international adaptive sporting event for active duty and veteran service members.

The event will bring roughly 400  wounded servicemen and women from around the world to compete in the ten following sports:

  1. Archery
  2. Track and Field
  3. Cycling
  4. Indoor Rowing
  5. Sitting Volleyball
  6. Swimming
  7. Triathlon
  8. Wheelchair Basketball
  9. Wheelchair Rugby
  10. Wheelchair Tennis
