According to a recent press release from FDOT, the railroad crossing at Colonial Drive near the I-4 ramp will be closed to traffic in both directions between 9 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 and 3 a.m.Monday, October 17, 2016.
Detour signs will be placed at key locations in the area to direct drivers around the work zone as shown in the graphic above.
- Traffic traveling west on Colonial Drive will be directed to take a left onto North Orange Avenue, a right turn onto West Amelia Street, then a right turn onto North Garland Avenue.
- Traffic traveling east on Colonial Drive will be directed to take a right onto North Hughey Avenue, take a left onto West Amelia Street, then turn left onto North Magnolia Avenue.
The closure is needed to replace the existing crossing with new concrete panels and asphalt approaches.

The Ivanhoe Village crossing is so nice now.
I’m glad they are finally addressing that rough crossing, even if it involves some minor inconvenience.
