According to a recent press release from FDOT, the railroad crossing at Colonial Drive near the I-4 ramp will be closed to traffic in both directions between 9 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 and 3 a.m.Monday, October 17, 2016.

Detour signs will be placed at key locations in the area to direct drivers around the work zone as shown in the graphic above.

  • Traffic traveling west on Colonial Drive will be directed to take a left onto North Orange Avenue, a right turn onto West Amelia Street, then a right turn onto North Garland Avenue.
  • Traffic traveling east on Colonial Drive will be directed to take a right onto North Hughey Avenue, take a left onto West Amelia Street, then turn left onto North Magnolia Avenue.

The closure is needed to replace the existing crossing with new concrete panels and asphalt approaches.
