Construction of a new traffic light on Virginia Drive was approved in August of 2015. Construction was expected to commence in August 2016, but nothing has happened yet.
The light is linked with the realignment of Alden Drive to merge with nearby Philadelphia Avenue, as part of the larger The Yard at Ivanhoe project. A new stop light will be placed at the intersection of Alden and Virginia, to stop traffic before it hits the railroad tracks and Orange Avenue.
Virginia Drive will also be gaining an additional turn lane as it approaches Orange Avenue, after the tracks.
An enhanced bike path is also expected to be installed alongside the Yard and the railroad tracks, that should find it’s way to the Lake Formosa.

The total projected budget for the Alden/Virginia light is $62,571.
