Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is joining Lake Eola Charter School students for a 10-minute walk to Lake Eola Park at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 10 for National Walk to a Park Day.

The event is part of a national commitment to ensuring access to parks for everyone, with parks that are within a 10-minute walk for all homes in the City of Orlando. In order to advance the 10-minute walk vision, the City will be launching a citywide Parks Master Plan visioning process that will provide a roadmap for enhancing access to greenspaces and new parks.

The update to the Parks Master Plan will include a walk-time analysis for each park to determine the real-world accessibility of current parks in each neighborhood and will be paid for with a $40,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association.
