Orlando City Council is considering increasing parking fines.

According to a recent report by FOX 35, the City is facing a large loss in profits from the removal of the public parking lots under the I-4, estimated in the amount of $1.6 million.

In response, the City Council has been asked to approve an increase of $5 for fines handed out for standard parking violations like having an expired parking meter. That would increase the price of a ticket from $22 to $27.

The last time parking fines were increased was roughly 15 years ago.
