Orlando’s City Council voted to increase the fees associated with Planning and Permitting during the council meeting on Monday, September 17.

The base permit fee will increase from $50 to $60 for the first $1,000 of construction value, and from $3.50 to $4 for each additional $1,000 of construction value for single-family residential construction. In addition, a 3 percent “technology fee: will be applied.

These fee increases will go into effect January 1, 2019. The City of Orlando has not increased its Permitting and Planning fees since 2008.

For any customers that currently have a permit in process with the city, if the invoice for your permit is issued prior to January 1, you will not be charged according to the new fee schedule.

In addition, please be advised that re-inspection fees will increase from $50 to $150 effective January 1, 2019, and a new cancellation fee of $50 will be assessed for every inspection that is canceled on the same day of the scheduled inspection. If your inspection is canceled before 11:59 p.m. the day prior to the scheduled inspection, you will not be charged the cancellation fee.
