For “Bungalower and The Bus” listeners it won’t come as any news that Rollins’ Alfond Inn will soon be expanding their Winter Park campus. Click HERE to hear it yourself in Episode 61 at the 8:03 mark.
The college-owned boutique hotel will be adding 73 additional rooms bringing the total number to 185. The new accommodations will offer new luxury rooms and large suites for meetings, a second pool, and a new spa.
The inn will expand into the current parking lot that is sandwiched between their building and the current home of the Winter Park Public Library. Parking will be provided by the SunTrust parking garage and another soon-to-be garage nearby.
Construction will start late this summer with an expected completion date of early 2021.
The Alfond Inn directs profits from hotel operations into the Alfond Scholars Program which awards scholarships to Rollins students each year. The value of each scholarship is roughly $240,000 over four years and since the opening in 2013 the school has awarded 53 full scholarships.
The hotel also operates as an extension of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum and displays pieces from their collection.
