Epic Axe Throwing (Facebook | Website)  opened in October 2018 but they haven’t been able to live up to their full epic potential, as they haven’t been allowed to serve any alcohol on site. That’s about to change.

Despite some recent changes to the rules controlling alcohol sales near churches, Epic Axe Throwing is applying for a variance to allow for the sale of beer and wine within 190 feet of St. James Catholic Church; Section 58.705 still prohibits the sale of alcohol within 200 feet of a church or school if the establishment doesn’t sell food, hence the need for a variance.

That being said, their proximity to other establishments already serving alcohol and the fact that they will restrict the consumption of beer and wine to certain areas of the venue, city staff have marked the variance for approval.

The requested variance is marked for approval at the May 28 Board of Zoning Adjustment meeting.
