Lynx just won a federal grant that will allow them to invest in zero-emission buses for Downtown Orlando.

The regional transit operator will get $1.961 million as part of the Federal Transit Administration’s Low or No Emission program, meant to transition bus fleets across the nation from fossil fuels to more energy-efficient alternatives like electric.

The funds will allow for Lynx to replace its 15 hybrid Lymmo buses downtown with new fully electric ones. An exact number has not been released at this time.

Editor’s Note: For those of you who don’t know, Lymmo is the free bus circulator in the Central Business District that lets you skip the heat and arrive nice and dry. For free. Click HERE to see the routes.
