Local arts and cultural event, FusionFest (Facebook |Website), will return this year with a little something extra for local filmmakers.

FusionFest organizers are offering a $1,000 prize for the best three to five-minute short film that gets created during their “MYgration Film” intensive. Filmmakers who apply will be matched at random on August 23 with an “interesting Central Floridian” who will share their story, including how they or their family came to live in the area.

The filmmaker then has until August 25 at midnight to submit a short documentary film based on the given subject.

The films will receive two screenings at the Global Peace Film Festival in September 23 and multiple screenings at FusionFest in late November.
