According to Orange County Public Schools, seven out of 10 students are currently eligible to receive free school meals during the pandemic.
OCPS’s Food and Nutrition Services department is asking parents, whether they require the assistance or not, to submit an application for the 2020-2021 program by the upcoming September 22 deadline. Every application submitted helps Orange County schools receive the funding and resources they need to continue their programming, so apparently they want your help to pad their numbers.

Meal benefits are available for all eligible children attending school throuvh virtual or in-person learning, and they can receive breakfast, lunch, and supper, at select schools, allowing parents to save roughly $450-$1,479 per child per school year.
Families are also eligible for reduced-cost internet services, utilities, and summer camp, as well as free ACT and SAT testing.
