“Mira Lehr is a force of nature to be reckoned with. She is a fearless explorer. Her artistic energy and spirit are boundless.”

UCF’s acclaimed printmaking studio, Flying Horse Editions (Instagram | Website), has announced the selection of internationally renowned Mira Lehr (Instagram | Website) as part of its 2021 roster of visiting artists.

Lehr, aged 85, will be creating new work during her residency that will debut at Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 at the INK Miami Satellite Fair from December 1-5 at the Dorchester Hotel. The work will then tour with Flying Horse through 2022 at a variety of art fairs around the country, and internationally.

Her work is in a number of prestigious private art collections as well as those of institutions like the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the Getty Museum Research Center, the Mennello Museum of American Art, and many more. She is often referred to as the “Godmother of Miami’s art scene” for founding one of the nation’s first co-ops for women artists in 1960.

“My experience at Flying Horse Editions has been a powerful new adventure in artmaking for me. I am honored to have been invited to their artist residency this year. Their passionate commitment to the craft of printmaking is evident, they really put their hearts into the visiting artist’s experience. I was able to experiment with great freedom ‒ they encourage the artists to take risks while remaining true to your voice.”

Flying Horse Editions is a collaborative research center in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida, and a non-profit publisher of limited-edition prints, artist books, and art objects by internationally renowned artists.
