Longtime Intersection host, Matthew Peddie, has left his position at NPR affiliates WMFE and WMFV and accepted a new gig at WUSF Public Media in Tampa.

Peddie, who we’ve previously featured HERE in an “11 Questions” column, started at WMFE in 2012 and has served as the station’s assistant news director for the past few years. His Intersection show covered current news topics, politics, environmental headlines, history, and more. WMFE has since stated that it will be “reimagining” how to best serve its listeners following Peddie’s departure and will place the show on hiatus starting March 31.

National news program, The Takeaway, hosted by Melissa Harris-Perry, will be aired in its place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays until further notice.

Peddie’s last episode of Intersection will air on March 24 at noon. He will take to the airwaves with WUSF as the host of its weekly public affairs show, Florida Matters, in early April but will continue to live in Orlando for the time being.

  1. Matthew Peddie was actually the acting new director for a couple of years, not assistant news director. He’s the current assistant news director, a position he’s had for a few months. He also previously served as the acting news manager for two years.
