The Orlando Museum of Art will soon share a special exhibit of works by Orlando-based photographer Jimm Roberts in an upcoming exhibition called Jimm Roberts: Southernmost Art and Literary Portraits.

In 1983, Roberts started documenting a group of artists and writers that called Florida home and continued to do so over the next 19 years. He photographed and interviewed 50 celebrated figures including a Nobel Prize Laureate, winners of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, bestselling authors, and some of the most important visual artists in the country.

His portraits, essays, and interviews were published in an award-winning book published by Mercer University Press, Southernmost Art and Literary Portraits: Fifty Internationally Noted Artists and Writers in the South.

The exhibition will share a selection of the portraits and a number of the original letters from the artists and writers featured in the collection.

The exhibition will be on view from April 22 through July 17, 2022.
