Orange County has just announced the hiring of its new Chief Sustainability and Resilience Officer, Carrie Black.

Black comes to the position with 10 years of experience in sustainability management efforts including stints at Jacksonville University, Valencia College, and the Green Team Project. Black has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University where she double-majored in Psychology and Anthropology, and earned a Master of Science in Environmental Planning and Management from Johns Hopkins University.

Black will be in charge of leading the execution of the county’s Sustainability Operations Plan as well as managing climate mitigation efforts, and her appointment will be effective September 6 ,2022.
