5/31: The City of Orlando has lifted the Lake Alert for Lake Baldwin.

2/15 UPDATE: The off-leash portion of Lake Baldwin Park is now open to the public but lake access is still restricted. A fence has been installed along the lakefront, but still, be aware of your pet if they are off-leash.

The City of Orlando has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Baldwin due to a recent harmful algal bloom.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection tested water samples on February 6 and discovered potentially unsafe levels of toxins related to the presence of algae in the lake. As a health precaution, the City of Orlando is advising that all residents cease water activities and irrigation from and around Lake Baldwin until further notice.

The City of Winter Park closed the off-leash area of Lake Baldwin Park on February 2 with the hopes of reopening to the public on Saturday, February 4 but that date has obviously come and gone. The park will remain closed until lake conditions have improved.
