Join Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer on Friday, March 31, 2023, as he hops on his (or borrows a) bike and pedals to Orlando City Hall as part of an ongoing annual tradition to call attention to different ways to commute in the City Beautiful, other than in a car.
Bike to Work Day, or Bike [The Mayor] to Work Day as we refer to it at the Bungalower Media office, kicks off at at Lake Lorna Doone Park in the West Lakes neighborhood by Camping World Stadium at 7 a.m. The group will pedal out with a police escort (because that’s how the Mayor rides) at 8 a.m. with an arrival at Orlando City Hall scheduled around 9 a.m.
A little apres-bike is scheduled to run until 10 a.m. at City Hall Plaza where downtown employees and riders can learn more about the City’s bike projects and connect to local organizations and resources;
including Bungalower Media which will have a tent this year.
Free, all-day parking is available at Lake Lorna Doone Park for Bike to Work Day participants who live too far away to commute solely by bike. Which is nothing to be ashamed of.
A limited number of Bird, Helbiz, and Lime e-bikes will be available for those who want to participate in the group bike ride but do not own a bike. There are also a limited number of pedicabs available for those who would like to sit while enjoying the route through the heart of Downtown Orlando.
This free event is organized in partnership with the City of Orlando and reThink Your Commute (a program of the Florida Department of Transportation), with support from:
- Bike Walk Central Florida
- Florida Bicycle Association
- Kween Cab
- Kyle’s Bike Shop
- Orlando Bike Coalition
- Retro City Cycles
