The Orlando Shakespeare Theater is looking for a new managing director, according to a press release sent out earlier this week.

Current director Douglas Love-Ramos has accepted a new gig with A Noise Within Theater in California and will be leaving the Shakes effective July 5. Presumably with fireworks. Former director of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, Elizabeth “Betsy” Gwinn will be stepping in as interim executive director effective July 6.

Love-Ramos took the reigns at the Shakes in June 2019 and spent most of his tenure providing leadership during the pandemic and hosting productions both virtually and outdoors before reopening the theater to the public for the 2022-23 season.

Gwinn’s first event as interim director will be The Sounds of Soul: Motown and Beyond on July 8-9 as part of the Cypress Bank and Trust Cabaret Series.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater has begun a national search for a new permanent managing director and you can find out more information on the position by clicking HERE.
