A former Full Sail University student has been sentenced to over three years in federal prison for participating in the January 6 Capitol riot in 2021.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 22-year-old Grady Douglas Owens was arrested in April 2021 for assaulting law enforcement officers and disorderly conduct. He pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 37 months in prison and two years of supervised release this past Friday.

According to authorities, Owens allegedly hit an officer with a skateboard, when he and his father, Jason Douglas Owens, were stopped for illegally entering the Capitol. His father has also be charged for pushing an officer in the face. They both were seen attempting to break into the East Rotunda and Jason Owens, the father, was accused of stealing a baton from a Capitol Police officer.
