7/19 UPDATE: The City of Orlando has lifted the Lake Alert for Lake Highland.

The City of Orlando’s Streets and Stormwater Division has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Highland due to possible elevated E. coli counts due to a sanitary sewer overflow.

City Water Reclamation crews responded to a blockage in the public sanitary line on July 16, but despite their efforts, an estimated 3,000 gallons of sanitary waste entered the street and flowed into Lake Higland.

The incident took place at the intersection of Terrace Boulevard and North Eola Drive.

Signs will be placed along the norther shoreline of Lake Highland and the public are advised to avoid water contact activities in and around Lake Highland until further notice and crews will monitor water quality until levels are back within acceptable guidelines.
