A number of local breweries succeeded in bringing home medals from the prestigious 2023 US Open Beer Championship this summer, helping to further the message that Central Florida is a contender in the national beer market.

The annual competition is known for its intense appraisal of beer from around the country and is one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world.

  • Big Storm Brewery (Instagram) was awarded gold in Category 98 – American Berry/Fruit Beer for its “Sunny Key Lime” and silver in Category 123 – Spirits (non-whiskey) Barrel Aged Beer – Rum Barrels for its “Maple Rum Huracan Imperial Stout.”
  • Bowigens Beer Company (Instagram) was awarded bronze in Category 49 – Strong Scotch Ale for its “Wee Do What Wee Want” beer and silver in Category 81 – International Style Lager/Pilsner – Italian Pilsner for its “Premium Dancer.” It also won a bronze in Category 115 – Barrel Aged Strong Breakfast Stouts for its “Zombie Breakfast.”
  • Gatlin Hall Brewing (Instagram) was awarded silver in Category 13 – American IPA for its “Evergarden” brew and a bronze in Category 94 – Dark Lager for its “Ondrej.”
  • Ivanhoe Park Brewing (Instagram) was awarded bronze in Category 34 – Golden Stout for its “Masquerade” label and silver in Category 43 – “Roust Porter for its “Tupac ShaPorter.”
