Leu Gardens is redoing its beloved lakefront boardwalk.

The city-run botanical gardens is located on the shores of Lake Rowena, and has had a boardwalk along the waterfront for years, with a lookout platform extending over the water on the southeastern tip of the lake.

The Gardens posted on their social media last week that the boardwalk is now closed to guests as they prep the area for the first phase of a redevelopment plan.

We reached out to the City of Orlando for renderings of what would be replacing the lookout dock, but were told that it was too early in the process and that nothing had been put to paper at this time.

We are in the process of removing the overlook deck at Leu Gardens, which was previously impacted by storm damage. We do plan to replace that in the future, but do not have specifics or drawings at this time.”

A construction timeline for the new boardwalk is not public at this time.
