The Orlando Fire Department has just issued a call for artists who may be interested in creating an installation for a new station on Curry Ford Road.

The new Fire Station 11 at the corner of Curry Ford Road and Gaston Foster Road (which is curiously labeled as “The Beast of the East” on the city website) is near completion and the Fire Department is looking for a local artist to create a mural or mosaic for the building.

The art needs to enhance the overall design of the station and should be created with materials that are suitable for long-term installation in the Florida outdoors. The budget for the project is $60,000-$70,000, which is meant to cover the site prep and installation, as well as the required permits and inspections.

Artists have until September 8 to submit a project pitch HERE.
