A section of Orange Avenue that runs through Ivanhoe Village is temporarily closed for construction according to the Ivanhoe Village Main Street, and it’s already making area commutes a bit more of an adventure.

The City of Orlando’s Public Works Department kicked off Phase 1 of construction to replace sanitary sewer lines on North Orange Avenue on September 11 this week. The project will replace the small and undersized pipeline along the corridor over the next 13 months in five phases. This first phase will address the section between Ivanhoe Boulevard and Alden Road.

As the project progresses, there will be times when Ivanhoe Boulevard, Virginia Drive, and Alden Road will be temporarily closed to traffic – though, according to the City, all three will never be closed at the same time. Working hours for the project are 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday with some Saturday hours as well, due to adverse weather.

On-street parking is currently restricted along the corridor to facilitate construction as well.

Ivanhoe director, Allex Englett, sent us the following detour map that she whipped together in an attempt to help ease the frustration of local commuters and businesses.
