The City of Orlando’s Office of Sustainability, Resilience, and Future Readinessissity (we made the last word up) is looking for volunteers to help with a gleaning event on October 6.

Gleaning is the practice of collecting any excess or leftover produce from farms and gardens after a major harvest. This gleaning event will be hosted in conjunction with the Society of St. Andrews (Website) at Long and Scott Farms to collect any leftover corn that may have been missed by the larger harvest team.

All corn gathered will be donated to local organizations and food banks.

The event will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Long and Scott Farms, which is located at 26216 County Road 448 A in Mount Dora [GMap].
