Come Out With Pride (Website), the organization behind the largest Pride Parade in Central Florida, has just announced its grand marshals for the 2023 event.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 21, in and around Lake Eola Park. The parade is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., followed by an award presentation and celebration at the Lake Eola Amphitheater at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. over the lake.
This year’s grand marshals were chosen, according to a recent press release, for their significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ community, and include:
- Dempsey Jara, a 12-year-old trans activist.
- Simone Chriss, a civil rights attorney for Southern Legal Counsel.
- John Paonessa, Mike Rogier, and Gary Israel, and the legal team of Gary Israel, P.A., for their role in the fight against Senate Bill 1438, or the “Protection of Children” bill, and the recent temporary injunction.
The evening entertainment will feature performances by RuPaul’s Drag Race alums La La Ri and Monet X Change. Iconic queen Baga Chipz will be performing at Hamburger Mary’s on October 17 and 18 as well.
