A traffic shift that rolled into effect earlier in the month is likely to stay through 2024.
Orange County crews are working to widen the Econlackhatchee Trail from south of Lake Underhill to just north of S.R. 408, and a section of Lake Underhill Road is also being widened near the intersection with the Trail.
Westbound traffic on Lake Underhill Road has been shifted into a temporary lane that was recently paved, adjacent to the existing lane. Eastbound traffic has shifted into the existing westbound lane, to create space for crews to start installing new box culverts through the canal, along the roadway.
The traffic shift will remain in place for roughly a year before being moved back into the new roadway, but the $66.7 million Econlockhatchee Trail Improvement Project is expected to continue on through the first quarter of 2026.
