PETER SCHREYER, CALIFORNIA 2018 - PHOTO VIA CREALDE SCHOOL OF ART

After 28 years, longtime executive director Peter Schreyer will be stepping down from his role at Crealde School of Art (Website) in Winter Park.

The Swiss-American documentary photographer took the helm at the art school after serving 13 years as the director of its photography program, leading its faculty of nearly 50 teaching artists.

The 48-year-old non-profit arts organization is poised to begin a search for an Associate/Incoming Executive Director that Schreyer will train over the next year, starting in April 2024, with a target to have that person become the formal executive director by January 2025.

“We want to be sure the Associate/Incoming Executive Director candidate who will become the next CEO/Executive Director is fully supported and has the highest chances of success as the leader of the school. The Board and leadership team also want to be sure this candidate will be able to enjoy the organization as much as we all do.”

The posting for the new position is expected to go live on Crealde’s website on December 15. A press release issued earlier this week shared that Schreyer expects to remain on campus as a consultant and senior faculty member and program manager of the photography program.

The main campus of Crealde School of Art is located at 600 St. Andrews Boulevard [GMap] and will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025.
