The Florida Department of Transportation will be reconfiguring South Street under Interstate 4 into a two-way street.

Construction on the project is expected to start on January 21, with a completion date of sometime in March. FDOT will be adding an eastbound lane on South Street to help motorists enter and exit I-4 Express, which currently only allows for westbound travel at the interchange.

The project will also add larger pedestrian refuge areas to improve the cross signal and reduce the risk of conflicts with passing vehicles.

Overnight closures may be necessary to complete the work over the next six to eight weeks.
