The Florida Department of Health in Orange County has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Arnold in Dover Shores due to the presence of a harmful algal bloom.

A recent site visit on January 22 detected the presence of cyanobacteria in the water, which can have negative health impacts on humans and animals. As such, residents are encouraged to exercise caution when in and around the lake.

The FDOH will continue to monitor water quality and will notify the public when the bloom has run its course.

The lake was closed in the winters of 2019 and 2018 for the same reason.
