College Park residents received a Public Hearing Notice in their mailboxes last week warning of an upcoming meeting concerning a new medical marijuana dispensary hoping to open near a local high school.
According to the notice, which you can see below, Plants of Ruskin/AltMed Florida, the parent company of MÜV (Website), is looking to open a dispensary in a former Amscot building at 3550 Edgewater Drive [GMap], which is within 500 feet of a nearby high school, and thus must file for a code variance with the County.
It should be noted that there is currently an ABC Liquor store located directly across the street from Edgewater High School and several businesses serving alcohol, one of which shares a driveway with the school.
The Board of Zoning Adjustment will be meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 1 at the County Commission Chambers, 201 S. Rosalind Avenue [GMap].
