The Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation, and Creativity at the Orlando Public Library is hosting a special event this month where attendees can compete to make a video game from scratch.

The Orlando Game Jam and Gaming Expo will run from February 22-25 at the downtown library branch and invites Game Jam participants to create a new video game – from conception to a finished playable product – over just two of those days. Game Jam participants will compete for bragging rights and cash prizes, and the event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Interested gamers can visit the Melrose Center on Thursday, February 22 from 4-7 p.m. for an information session to learn about the secret theme for the weekend, form a team, and make a plan of attack, h posted by the co-founder of Orlando-based tech group, OMG Labs, Kunal Patel.

The Orlando Gaming Expo will take place on Sunday, February 25 from 1-5 p.m. with attendees getting the chance to play and vote on the games created that weekend. Local video game studios and developers will also be onsite to mingle and answer questions.
