The Heart of Florida United Way (Website) will debut a new documentary this week in recognition of Black History Month that shares the untold personal stories of Central Florida business and community leaders who faced the harsh realities of racism, segregation, and bias in their respective industries but still managed to succeed at paving the way in our community.

The film, Know Your Place,” features the stories of leaders like Nick Aiken, Jr., former Orange County Commissioner Mable Butler, Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, former U.S. Representative Val Demings, former Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr., Florida State Senator Geraldine Thompson, and more.

The documentary will be screened privately for the first time on Monday, February 5, at the Orlando Science Center, for an invite-only event before being aired publicly on WFTV Channel 9 on February 10 at 7 p.m.

The film was directed by Jim Hobart of Macbeth Studio (Website).
