Orange County Regional History Center will host a special preview of an upcoming mermaid-inspired production by Opera Orlando on Thursday, February 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Opera Orlando’s upcoming show Rusalka, based on Dvořák’s tragic operatic version of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid, will include a new English translation for its site-specific production, and to celebrate they are partnering with two local history institutions to preview the production with a special lecture.

This special preview evening will include selections from the opera, intertwined with historical commentary from the directors of two of Central Florida’s premier cultural destinations. The Orange County Regional History Center’s Pam Schwartz will focus on local historical and mythological ties, while the Art and History Museums of Maitland’s Danielle Thomas will share about their Mayan-inspired architecture and artistic relevancy.

Admission to this event is free but you can click HERE to register.

The opera will be performed on March 8 and 9 at the Art and History Museums of Maitland; tickets are available HERE.
