Penzey’s Spices (Website) has opened a new shop at 1809 S. Orange Avenue [GMap] in the SoDo District, kitty-corner from the Pulse Interim Memorial.
The Wisconsin-based retailer is the largest independent spice retailer in the United States and is known for having outspoken political opinions. In 2022, the retailer hosted a “Republicans Are Racists Weekend” for Martin Luther King Day, with a discount on Mexican, Chinese, and Indian spices, and proceeds going to racial justice organizations. Penzey’s Spices will be hosting a grand opening celebration in the coming months but is currently open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday.
