The owners of a lumber yard in Kake Fairview are facing steep fines from Orange County following a Three-Alarm Fire last month.

The property, located near Silver Star Road and Orange Blossom Trail, is used as a wood and mulch recycling center by the owner, Central Florida Lumber and Supply Company. However, according to a report by WESH 2, they do not have a valid state permit to operate there, and they are leasing the property to a company called A Sun State Tree.

The company is now facing a county fine for Failure to Maintain a Rapid-Fire Extinguishment System and Not Having a Safety Plan. Orange County wants the property owner to pay an estimated $280,674.54 in fines.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is also investigating.
