Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill is the target of a state investigation into allegations that she exploited an unnamed elderly woman in her constituency and stole her savings.

An investigation into court documents by WFTV 9 revealed that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently looking into whether or not Commissioner Hill may have used her influence over a 96-year-old woman to grant herself Power of Attorney and trustee of her estate, to purchase a home in Lake Mann Estates without the woman’s knowledge or approval.

According to the report, Hill’s son and his girlfriend live in the waterfront home, located at 170 Domino Drive [GMap], that was purchased with the woman’s money while Hill herself lives in a Washington Shores home that used to belong to the woman’s parents. Documents also allege that Hill used over $100,000 of the woman’s cash and credit to pay for renovations to one of the properties, dental surgery, a facelift, and a New Year’s trip to Miami – not to be confused with her 2023 trip to Birmingham that resulted in her getting arrested on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Those charges were ultimately dropped.

At the time of this post, the investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been brought against Hill, who has maintained that she is innocent of any wrongdoing and that she has hired an attorney. However, an injunction granted last week has resulted in her removal from the Washington Shores home located at 3408 Lewis Court [GMap].

A spokesperson for the City of Orlando shared the following statement.

The City has been made aware of an investigation by FDLE and related civil litigation involving Commissioner Hill. We are not privy to any of the details of that investigation, nor are we involved or named in the litigation.

– ASHLEY PAPAGNI, CITY OF ORLANDO PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER, OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

If Hill does face charges from this incident, it could result in her removal from office.
