Boxer and Clover (Instagram | Website) is the latest addition to the seldom-changing docket at East End Market, and it went into soft opening this week.

The barbecue concept is a new effort by Matt Hinckley of Hinckley’s Fancy Meats (Instagram), a stall in the same market, and the newly opened Mid Drive Dive (Instagram) in College Park. While the new project is a collaborative effort with Matthew Heafy, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the world-famous heavy metal band, Trivium, the kitchen is being led by Chef Pete Morales (pictured below), who has been smoking Hinckley’s meats for the past few years. The meats at Hinckley’s Fancy Meats, to be clear.

They’ve currently been popping up in the East End Market courtyard at roughly 11 a.m. and selling until they run out of product, which they’ve apparently done every day, according to their social posts.

The menu currently features several sandwiches including brisket, pulled chicken, and pulled pork, a variety of sides, combo meat platters, and elk chili with beans, bacon, and burnt ends.

The concept is only in the space for the next six months after which a decision will be made to continue on in place at the market, move somewhere larger, or pack it up and call it a day.
