Popular Parramore-based business, J. Henry’s Barber Shop, was destroyed in an electrical fire over EDC weekend in November 2021 but has finally been restored and reopened due to a little help from the City of Orlando.

J. Henry started his career as a barber in the same shop that eventually became known as J. Henry’s back in 1991, before buying it just three years later. He has been in business for over 30 years, and has played an active role in preserving the historic neighborhood.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, J. Henry served on Orange County’s Economic Recovery Task Force and was a vocal advocate in requesting the state of Florida to allow barbershops and salons to reopen for business.

The Faulkner family, who owns the building where J. Henry’s is located, and worked closely with the city and the Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency to apply for funding that helped cover the costs of the repairs and rebuilding.

J. Henry’s Barbershop is located at 642 West Church Street [GMap].
