The Orlando Museum of Art (Facebook Website) has just announced the receipt of a donation of $510,000 from the Council of 101.

The Council of 101 is a volunteer fundraising committee that was founded in 1965 to provide financial support for the museum. Over the years they have raised over $14.5 million for the museum to help support the acquisition of more art, enhance facilities, and fund programs for children and seniors. They host two annual fundraising events a year, including the Festival of Trees in November and Art in Bloom in the spring.

They also run a Corporate Leasing Program for the museum, whereby they purchase museum-quality prints by contemporary artists and gift them to the museum to be leased out to local businesses.

This is the largest donation in the history of the group, which consists of nearly 300 women members.
