A new venue will soon open in the former home of BART in Mills 50, located at 1205 N. Mills Avenue [GMap].
Conrad’s Shanty (Facebook) is a new concept by the team behind the Gnarly Barley properties that include GB Bottle Shop in Ivanhoe Village and Big Time Street Food in Thornton Park. This new project has added a partner in Colin Morrison, a local commercial realtor who has worked with the team on securing locations for previous projects, including the ones that were just mentioned.
Morrison and Zach Scray, pictured, told Bungalower that they had been friends since pre-school and even went to college together. They wanted this new concept to be like hanging out in a friend’s backyard and the interior evokes just that, with slatted fencing on the walls, lights that look like windows, deck furniture, and an enclosed homey feeling like someone’s mother is making you a snack in the kitchen.
They were also quick to point out that while this is backed by the same team as the other concepts, this one is it’s own venture and will not be serving brisket. However, they will be serving beer and wine and hours are currently set for 4 p.m.-2 a.m. daily.

Provided they find the right staff, they are hoping to open before the end of the month.
